Hench Control's ColorMasterThe ColorMaster™ color graphics package supplied by Hench Control, Inc. as part of the refrigeration control system consists of two primary components: historical trending and color graphics. HISTORICAL TRENDING: The ColorMaster™ graphics package makes it very easy for the operator to create plots of pressure, temperature, level or other measured parameters for his records. Clicking on the button labeled Historical Trends will bring up a graph that he can easily modify to show plots of pressures or temperatures over any time period he chooses. To show historical trends of parameters, he only needs to click on the color “pen” he wants to change (there are eight different colors), which brings up a menu of all the parameters available to him. Clicking on the room temperature or pressure or other parameter will make that parameter appear on the graph. He can bring up data as far back as it exists in memory by simply typing the desired date and time in the indicated spaces and get a color printout of the data by clicking on the PRINT button. The historical trending graphics also has the capability to download the temperature, power, pressure, current and other data into spreadsheets, such as Excel for further manipulation. The format used for this downloading is comma separated variable (.CSV), which is a universal file format commonly used by many databases or spreadsheets. GRAPHICS: The ColorMaster™ graphics provides a visual means of seeing which equipment is operating, at what capacity and at what temperatures and pressures. It allows the operator to adjust the suction or discharge pressure or room temperature set points with easily learned actions; typically it is done by clicking on the SET POINT box and clicking on the up or down arrow. Similarly, forcing defrost on an evaporator is done by clicking on the evaporator, then clicking on the button which says FORCE DEFROST. The color graphics is tailored to each site, with a plan view of the site which shows the entire plant and all the room temperatures in a cold storage warehouse; it indicates which compressors, condensers, evaporators or other equipment are in operation by their color and by animation. ColorMaster™ shows fans spinning, valves open or closed, and receiver liquid level in animation. Equipment, such as compressors, fans, valves and pumps change color, depending on their operating status. Alarm conditions are indicated by red colors on the piece of equipment in an alarm state. In short, color graphics allows the operators to see at a glance the state of the refrigeration system, and better understand its operation.
